On the morning of December 31st, the Ministry of National Defence held a ceremony to present the President's decision and the Minister of National Defence's decision to four military officers to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions.

General Nguyen Truong Thang - Deputy Minister of National Defence, Head of the inter-ministerial working group, and Head of the Ministry of National Defence's Steering Committee on participation in United Nations peacekeeping operations - presided over the ceremony.

**  For the first time, a female officer from Vietnam has been selected for a position at the United Nations Office.

This appointment ceremony saw four officers carefully selected, meeting all the stringent standards of the United Nations, ready to replace officers currently serving in the MINUSCA mission (Central African Republic) and to be deployed to new positions at the United Nations Office for Peace and Security in Brussels, Belgium.

The four officers receiving appointments are: Lieutenant Colonel Vu Thi Lien, Assistant Training Officer, Department of Peacekeeping, who applied for and was selected for the position of expert on security and defense policy at the United Nations Office for Peace and Security.

This is the first female officer from Vietnam to be selected for a position at the United Nations Office, marking a new and significant development in the process of deep and professional international integration of Vietnam's peacekeeping forces.

 Lieutenant Colonel Dang Thu Ha, editor of the People's Army Newspaper, has been appointed to replace Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Huyen Anh as the Media Officer (MPIO) at the MINUSCA mission in the Central African Republic.

Captain Nguyen Huy Khai, Assistant for External Relations at Military Hospital 175, has been appointed to replace Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Tuan as the Chief of Equipment Officer (COE) at the MINUSCA mission.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram, an officer of the Vietnam Coast Guard, has been appointed to replace Lieutenant Colonel Bui Thi Minh Nguyet as the Senior Officer for Training (SO Training) at the MINUSCA mission.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tram is also the first female officer of the Coast Guard to be deployed individually. She has received thorough training in military observer, gender, and media, and has participated in numerous intensive training courses both domestically and internationally.

Speaking at the decision-awarding ceremony, General Nguyen Truong Thang emphasized that this time there were 3 female officers, all of whom are outstanding cadres, trusted and nominated by their agencies and units to participate in the United Nations mission.

On this occasion, General Nguyen Truong Thang also sent 24 words to the officers preparing to depart for their mission: "Loyalty - Dedication, Confidence - Creativity, Courage - Flexibility, Persuasive Negotiation, Top Efficiency, Fatherland Above All."

At the same time, the Deputy Minister of National Defense also expressed confidence that the officers preparing to undertake this mission will successfully complete their tasks in the upcoming deployment.
