After nearly a month of investigation, the authorities determined that the body tied in a nylon bag and floating on the river in Hung Yen was Y.N thanks to the results of DNA testing.

On December 8, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc (48 years old, residing in Nghe An, father of N.T.Y.N) said that the family had received a notice from the Hanoi City Police about the results of the DNA testing request, which showed that the sample collected from the body discovered in Hung Yen matched that of a relative in the family. The family will soon go to Hanoi to receive the results in writing and work with the investigation agency to complete the procedures to bring Y.N back to her hometown for burial.

The conclusion of the testing was made after nearly a month of investigation since people discovered the female body tied, put in a nylon bag and floating on the river through Duc Hop commune (Hung Yen province). The victim's body has a tattoo of "19-12-2006" - the same date of birth as Y.N, along with many identifying features similar to the Nghe An female student who went missing before.

Previously, on November 24, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi City Police, said that the Criminal Police Department arrested a suspect related to the case of a 19-year-old girl from Nghe An who went missing for many days, and whose body was found in Hung Yen.

As reported by VTC News, on November 10, the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc (residing in Quynh Mai ward, Nghe An) sent a petition to Quynh Mai ward police about the loss of contact with their daughter, Ms. N.T.Y.N. (19 years old).

According to the family, more than 2 months ago, Y.N. went to Hanoi to work at a clothing store, then transferred to work at an electronics company in Bac Ninh. When her grandmother was seriously ill, she asked for leave to return to her hometown to take care of her.

On the afternoon of November 2, a man and a woman came to Y.N.'s house for about 30 minutes. On the afternoon of November 3, Y.N. asked for permission to go to Hanoi to play and was taken by a friend to National Highway 1A to catch a bus. On November 4, she called to say she would return in the afternoon but did not. On the evening of November 5, her family received a text message from Y.N saying she would return at night and then lost contact completely. On November 7, the family reported to the police.

During the search, they posted information on social media and were informed by Hung Yen residents that they had discovered a female body with characteristics similar to Y.N..

On November 24, the father confirmed that the female body found floating on a river in Hung Yen province was his daughter, through the tattoo "19-12-2006" on her neck.
